Downtown New Port Richey is full of history — from the silent film stars who once walked our streets to the local leaders who helped shape our city’s story.

Now, we need your help writing the next chapter.

The City of New Port Richey is launching a community contest to name two downtown surface parking lots:

Lot #1: Nebraska Avenue (just south of Railroad Square businesses)
Lot #2: Corner of Adams Street & Nebraska Avenue (just north of Nick’s Point)

We’re looking for names that reflect our historic theme — similar to existing lots like Gloria Swanson, Gerben DeVries, and Thomas Meighan — honoring people or stories connected to New Port Richey’s rich past.

How to Enter:

  • Submit your proposed name for one or both lots
  • Include a short explanation (2–4 sentences) describing the historical significance
  • Entries must reflect New Port Richey history
  • Deadline: Friday, May 8th, 2026

Submission will be reviewed for historical accuracy, and winners will be selected by a jury of City staff members.

Winners are invited to:

  • Attend the official lot dedication ceremony
  • Be featured in a Downtown NPR spotlight reel
  • Receive a limited-edition “Downtown Storyteller” plaque
